Together with my husband Rob we run CL Hawley Books. I began the business in 2000 – a quarter of a century ago! We sell antiquarian and seocndhand books via our website CL Hawley and at book fairs. We attend book fairs run by the PBFA or North West Book Fairs. Our most popular areas at the moment are modern first editions, 20th century dust jackets, children’s books, history and literary biography.
We also stock philosophy, theology, classics (Greek and Latin) and literature from all eras.
Our best selling author over the last 25 years is, by a big margin, Georgette Heyer and we stock a wide range of her work from inexpensive paperbacks to first edtions in dust jackets. The Brontës, Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes, George Orwell have also been among our biggest sellers.
From our children’s books Enid Blyton remains very popular as do classic series such Ladybird Books and vintage Puffins.
